On October 23, 2009, Sirius XM filed an application with the FCC International Bureau to operate repeaters in Puerto Rico for 60 days. The FCC granted this application on November 05. Satellite Radio is coming to Puerto Rico alas! Sirius XM also filed an application for the standard 180 day license to operate repeaters in Puerto Rico on October 30. It is just a formality at this point.
For all those in Puerto Rico, the wait is over. Sit back and enjoy the music.
Edit: As expected, the FCC granted Sirius XM the standard 180 license to operate repeaters in Puerto Rico on December 10, 2009. The grant authorized two repeaters, one in San Juan and the other in Bayamon.
